Have you ever wanted to change the world for good and for God? Well, we are coming again into another Summer for the Transforming Leaders college internship program - a program that does just that.
Since 2007 YLI has hosted 18 young adults for 8-week sessions of serving the children, and families of Detroit, MI. Each year these interns practice living together in intentional community with their peers and their neighbors. Plus, they participate in vocational/ministry discernment – listening to how God may be calling them into lifelong service and ministry.
This week we got some great news here at the YLI office:
1) Two churches have come together and opened a THIRD WEEK of Motown Mission Experience this summer! Now we have the following dates still available for your youth group to join us in a week of service in the Motor City:
June 21-27
July 12-18
*July 19-25 NEW!
This week I have been traveling with the Bishop and a bunch of other United Methodists in the Holy Land. We've been visiting all the sites, praying, hearing great lectures, etc. But one of the best joys of the trip is being able to be here with one of our YLI Transforming Leaders Interns from last Summer, Rachel Hashimoto.
Rachel has been one of those group members that makes everybody smile. She greets everyone warmly, is interested in you sincerely, and is one who can hang out with the wide variety of of people on the trip.

Join us February 20-21, 2009 at West Side UMC, Ann Arbor, MI for a day and a half of conversation, resourcing, and experiential learning on spiritual formation in young people's ministries.

Did you know that Young Leaders Initiative has been granted money to help plant house churches in the City of Detroit? Did you know that at our last "Detroit Villages" network meetup that over twenty people showed up to share about their experiences living in intentional community in Detroit?
